Family Visit Visa Process

Following are the steps and procedures which are required to get Family Visit Visa.

I have divided this process into two phases.First Applying for the visa (being in Saudi Arabia) and Second is Applying for Visa Stamping from your Home Country.

Phase 1: Applying Visa
Pre-Requisites:

  1. Your iqama copy.
  2. Your passport copy (info page, visa page, entry page)
  3. Marriage certificate and Degree( original and arabic translation. Attested from Foreign Office of Home Country, also if you could get this attested from Saudi Embassy of Home Country that would be good)
Procedure:
  1. Letter from your employer describing your profession and salary.
  2. Visa Application form filled in arabic.Normally company government relation officer does this sort of stuff.(you can check with your company for this otherwise you can download this form and get this filled from any arabic literate person).
  3. Visa applicatin form should be stamped/signed by your sponsor(kafeel, company) and also you need to sign it as well.
  4. Get these documents ( pre-requisites + Letter + Visa Application Form) and make one file.
  5. Visit istihdam office in your city and apply for the visa.
  6. They will issue you a white paper which is a step 1 of the final 2 step process.
  7. Now ask your company/sponser to apply for visa in Foreig Ministry on basis of the white paper you have got. They will fill an online form and give you another print out with the application number printed on it.
  8. Final step is to collect this printout and attach the white paper you got from Istihdam office and submit it in Ministry of Foreign Affairs.(note: keep one copy of the printout with you as this contains application number which you need to track oninline your visa status after submitting with Foreign Ministry)
  9. It will take 3/5 days before the visa status will be visible online on Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (https://visa.mofa.gov.sa/eDefault.asp) keep checking this link (https://visa.mofa.gov.sa/SrhComFamilyVisa.asp) to see status of your visa.Once you see the page with all the information. Now you can start processing from your home country.
Phase 2: Processs to apply for Visa stamping from Home Country

Documents to apply for visa stamping:

  1. Visa printout from Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs website https://visa.mofa.gov.sa/SrhComFamilyVisa.asp.
  2. Original passport ( of the visitor)
  3. Marriage certificate (original)
  4. Return Ticket.
  5. 3 Passport size photograph with white background.
Look for any agent who (in pakistan you can apply through http://www.skylinkservices.org) which will apply for visa stamping from Saudi Embassy. It will take 3/5 days to complete this process.

  7. Dear Shahab,
It is almost impossible for your brother to bring you on visit visa. It is much easier for him to bring his mother and sister on visit visa not brother and his family. But one can still try because it also depends on Saudi Officer mood and your luck. Your brother can try his luck.

withouy professional degrees is not like to obtain visa for your family. But still as you are intending for visit visa you can still try your luck as i have seen many cases where labors, electricians and other not eligible profession titles getting visit visa. Also it has been a news in recent times that they have soften their policy regarding visit visa. I would suggest you to give it at least one try before thinking anything else..

  21. Mr.Mirz Kashif,
You can apply for visit visa for you sister in law. For work visa you would have to find any employer or sponsor for her to bring her on work visa. you can find any job in any school or any other related field and have employer issue a visa for her so he can apply for that visa.

On B.A degree you cannot bring your family on permanant visa. For visa you would need some professional degree or diploma.
rather you can try for visit visa on this iqama.

  33. Dear Abdul Qayoom,

Responses to your queries are as below:

a- Regarding MOFA issuing visit visa. normally and general perception is that they don't process visit visa in the Hajj days not even the Saudi Embassies in homeland. but not confirmed you can try.

b- It is required to hire agent services for stamping visa form home country(pakistan in this case). the agent will charge you around 8-10k PKR roughly. but this is not fixed and may vary with the agent.

c- Medcial test not necessary for visitors.

d- yes you can bring you mother on visit visa.

e- it is written on your visa which is stamped on the passport. normally its is one month for the visitor.

f- yes you can extend the visit visa. for details you can go through my this blog Extending Visit Visa.
regarding converting visit visa into permanant is not possible you would have to send the visitor back home and again process for permanant visa.

g- yes when applying for the visa stamping you need to attach return ticket along with the application. if you are intending to extend it you can get extendable return ticket or you can discuss with agent he can guide you on this.

h- yes on visit visa you family can move anywhere in the kingdom.

    Hope this would help..

  45. Hi,

I am currently working as QA Manager but my Eqamah is the dreaded Labour and I tried to change it but send my study docs to the Saudi Embassy but they rejected it because they are not changing the status for now they have stalled all this.
But recently its in the news that people with Labour Visa can bring there families. So I visited the MOFA website and complete the form in Arabic, it have me an error, i tried several times. So naturally I filled it in English and it went through and I printed it out and got the stamp from Chamber of Commerce, but when I went to MOFA office to submit the application they said do it in ARabic, and I have tried several hundred times but it does not go through in Arabic.

So is there a way to do this manually or something.

    Please advise.

I got the family visa for my wife last month and I've already sent it to my wife for visa stamping processing. When the agency submitted the documents in the Saudi Embassy, they have not approved the documents. When I checked the Ministry of Interior website, the details are clearly shown there and I came to know that the visa was already sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But when I check for the visa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, its not shown there. I always get "áÇ íæÌÏ ØáÈ ÈåÐÇ ÇáÑÞã" message. Could you please tell me what could be the problem? I think maybe the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not receive the visa yet. Kindly assist me with what I should do now.

  70. Dear Khurram

You have written 3 things in Passport requirement. (Info page, visa page, entery page). What if somebody don't have visa page on his passport?

I have lost my original passport on which I reached Saudi Arabia. Basically it was not a regular visa. I arrived on Umra first and then I converted my visa into Work visa and I got Fanni Hasib Aaali profession. I just ready all the documents but someone told me converted visa (Daakhli visa) is kind of dangerous thing to apply for a family visa. I might be deported on that issue. Do you have some knowledge about that? please reply me urgently and I will be very thankful.

  71. Salam Dear,
Last week i had applied online for family visa on the website of moifa.saudi and took printout of the same application, went to my kafeel for his signature on this application, kafeel signed on this paper and took salary certificate from him, then attested both the papers from Chamber of Commerce. Finally went to office of the "mofa SA". Surprised, when they refused to take these papers and, told that just check about the status online and don't come to the office.

    IS THIS THE PROCEDURE..??

I am confused, how can they proceed on little informations what ever i provided to them by online registeration of Visa.

    CAN ANYBODY GUIDE ME.

the profession on my iqama matches with my degree too ( do note that I came on a labour visa, and later on got my profession changed to Marketing Specialist/Expert)
the people at the istiqdaam refused by saying
" you initially came on labour visa, and later on got your prosession changed, so you are not allowed to bring your family on Iqama(permanent Basis), but you can bring your family on visit only"

Secondly i want to know if the visit visa requirements and applying procedure still the same or has it been changed? My Kafeel is saying you only need to apply only directly at MOFA now and no need for this istikhdam office etc. However i tried by filling the form had it signed and stamped by my sponsor but the application got rejected. I am clueless as to how this whole procedure is working nowadays, you know of any recent developments that might have changed this whole applying process?
